A Golf Outing get together is in the planning stage for June 30, 2007 a Saturday at Delcastle Golf Course. I need to know if any of you are interested by June 14th. Presently we have three or four golfers committed. I will post the times we have as soon as they have been confirmed. Mr. Sinopoli will be our honored guest. We can have up to three four somes for a morning start. If you are interested then please contact me at oforaker@comcast.net. It will be on a first come first served basis. It should be as much fun as we had last year. Plan on staying after the golf to take part in the story telling. The stories were hilarious. Just think of Johnny T and you will get the idea. If you don't golf and would like to meet us in the clubhouse when we are done then keep checking the message board for an approximate time to arrive. Take Care,

Did you guess who it was that I described in the previous email? If you said Steve Schnee you would be right. He is going to contact me the next time he comes back to Delaware and I promised him that I would try to reach some of our classmates for a small reunion of sorts. So if interested then check back form time to time to see when Steve will be here.

5/8/2006 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
A sighting of one of our class members took place in the last month. See if you can guess who it might be. He left Delaware to start a business in the Northwest. He recently retired and was home visiting his father who happened to be a teacher. He hopes to be back in town in August or the Fall and wants to see if I could round up some classmates for a visit. More later on his visit. Have you figured out who it is???

2/11/2006 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
WOW!! That would be fun.... Any other people interested as well??? I might not be able to do this for a while but if others are interested then we can make it so Scottie as they say on one of my favorite Sci Fi shows.

Larry, I was so sorry to read about Mr.Brown being diagnosed with liver cancer. My thoughts and prayers will be with him. We were so happy to have him join us at our reunion in May. Thanks for letting all of us know his address where we can send words of encouragement and care.

11/9/2005 Larry Brown (class of 70)
lbbrepo1@yahoo.com
I hope you don"t mind if a member of the Class of 70 slips in here. I'm sure you all know Mr. Brown the Math teacher. He has been recently diagnosed with liver cancer and begins treatment at the Kimmell Cancer Center in Phila. on Nov. 17th. I know he would greatly appreciate hearing from any of his students. Please keep him in your prayers and send him a card or give him a call at home. His address is: George C. Brown 11 Harvard Rd. Orval,Thanks for letting us know about the passing of Ben Ellegood. I, too, remember him as a practical joker, and one whom would always make people laugh. It is sad that we have lost another classmate.

11/7/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast,com
Unfortunately,I was just informed by Albie Anderson that Bennie Ellegood past away on September 30, 2005. I will remember Bennie as this guy who had a way of playing these practical jokes and then laughing with his teeth almost completely closed. His laughter almost sounded like a corss between a hiss and a high pitched bird call. He really was a fun loving guy with an ability to make you laugh once you got past the usual stereotypes we all dealt with at that time.

10/19/2005 Nancy CIrelli (Horn)
bnj69@msn.com
I have been checking the web site periodically. Ellen thanks for letting us know about Tawny. It's sad to loose another classmate. I hope to see some of you on the 5th of November at the restaurant, especially since I couldn't attend the class reunion.

10/18/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
Well it looks like it is a go on Saturday, the 5th of November for any of you that would like to meet in and around Lewes, DE. We have two events planned at this time. For those that want to golf earlier in the day let me know and I will get the starting times through Gary Brittingham. The course we are going to play is Marsh Island. This is a short course but it is a lot of fun to play. Most of the holes are either par three's or short par fours. Gary is going to attempt to get the starting time(s) for around 10:00AM. After the golf we are going to have a get together at Nancy Horn Cirelli and Bob's Restaurant in Lewes. This is an open invitation to stop by and get something to eat or just to say hello to whomever decides to come. The restaurant is called La Rosa Negra and it is on the road that goes into Lewes (Savannah Drive or Rt 9 Business). It is right before Bee Bee Hospital on the left. I would expect people will start showing up there around 4:00-4:30 but please stop by throughout the rest of the evening. It would be nice if you could RSVP if you intend to come to the restaurant and/or the golf outing by emailing me at oforaker@comcast.net . This should be a great time for all that attend. Hope to see you there....

10/11/2005 John Terranova
jayterra@verzion.net
Orval, I am down near Lewes most weekends. I would be glad to attend a get together, let me know when...

9/23/2005 Mary Beth Lewis Rutter
marybeth@cbchost.com
Orval, I have been checking the website, on occasion, and hope others are too. Ellen, I saw Tawny's obit and felt very sad that we have lost another classmate. Thank you for attaching her obit.

9/20/2005 Ellen Wells (aka McQueston)
elliott-wells@att.net
One of our classmates, Tawny Ashbee Lewis, passed away this month. Tawny was a friend of mine many years ago and, although I haven't seen her since high school, I feel great sadness at her passing. I am attaching her obit in the hope that you may read it and remember Tawny. http://miva.delawareonline.com/miva/cgi-bin/miva?obits.mv+54437

9/17/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
Is anyone checking the web site currently? I wanted to find out if any one would like to get together in Lewes at Nancy Horn Cirelli's and Bob's restaurant some weekend in the fall? It might be fun to go down there this time of year. Write to the message board if you have an interest and then we can look for a date. I would say some time in early to middle October might be nice. Just reply to the board and let me know.

This is my first time on the website and I have really enjoyed it! I read every message. I,too, thought the reunion was very well done-the best to date and I even worked on a couple years ago. Congratulations to the committee! The location, food, and friends were perfect. There was alot of energy and feelings of good will in the room that night. Best wishes to all.

I was just thinking about a web site I try to click on each day and wanted to share it with all of you. It is a way to contribute to feeding the hungry with just clicking on to the web site. If you are interested then go to http://www.thehungersite.com This is a commercial site but it is one where the advertisers agree to contribute food to the hungry including those living in the United States. All you have to do is click.

I'll be performing a concert to benefit HABITAT FOR HUMANITY Saturday night, June 4th, 7:30 pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. A free will offering will be taken for Habitat at intermission. It would be so COOL to have some of my high school friends there to both support me and Habitat for Humanity!! Hope to make great music for some of you next week! For more info, go to www.wpc.org. P.S. Thanks so much for this website,Dave! ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

What a "cool/happy/sad/nostalgic/surprising/fun...experience that was. I too, didn't want it to end! It's nice to be able to feel like you're back in high school again for a little bit, and that feeling is worth keeping for as long as possible!! Next time let's make it a three-day weekend, with the first night camping out in McKean for a night - like a "lock in"!?!? Super thanks to Liz and Mary Beth and everyone else on the committee for an excellent job organizing this one - the best yet!! BarbPrugh

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone! and I'm really sorry I couldn't work it out this year. Looks (and sounds) like I missed a great time but I have really been enjoying the pictures and messages. Sounds like the committee did a great job - thank you for all of your hard work. Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for putting my photos on the site.It will let you see what I look like now. I am not too bad... I always thought I was a nerd at McKean, and no fun, except for the "Chucklebuck".Remember that anyone? We had fun,and that was all that mattered-not like the horror stories I hear about of the stuff that goes on in schools today. We had good teachers who encouraged us to be better,do better. And we did it.I just wanted to escape my homelife.I did that in a big way--- by going to Europe within 30 days of graduation and then realizing I could never go home again.I was on my own,and I needed to get out there and do it.I did. We all did in our on way.We can all be proud.Smile.

5/20/2005 Janice Hartnett Snyder
bjsnyder1@msn.com
I am really enjoying the pictures, please keep them coming. I get on everyday to see if there are new ones and pleasantly surprised today to see that a new album had been added. I couldn't be there but at least I can enjoy "seeing" everyone in pictures. The pictures have made me realize how much I want to come to the next reunion.

5/20/2005 Holly Huhn
Hi .. this is a message to anyone who thinks there are any "clicks" left...wrong..it's like everyone was you best friend. It's great no "clicks" left!..So come to the next one.. as a matter of fact if you see some one on a regular bases you hardly see them because you are visiting everyone you don't normally see.....I imaging spouses feel a little left out...everyone has fun. Holly

What a great reunion! Many thanks to the committee who put it all together! Looking forward to the next one! It was great seeing everyone that I have not seen in the last 35?!? years!

5/17/2005 Janice Hartnett Snyder
bjsnyder1@msn.com
After looking at the reunion pictures, I really do wish I could have been there. It looks like it was a great reunion. I made it to the 10th reunion and really hope to make it to the next one. Although I was not part of the "in" crowd, my days at McKean were some of the most wonderful days of my life. I married Bob Snyder(class of 70) and we have been happily married for 35 years and live in Helena, Montana (just two hours from Steve Schnee who is in Bozeman). Was thrilled to receive my directory because there are so many "old" friends that I would like to get in touch with and now have addresses or e-mails to do that. Hope to see you all at the next reunion.

I am really enjoying the pictures! I never took my camera out of the case.

5/16/2005 John Terranova

We all look like we just graduated. Well maybe not some (Bill, Ken). It was a pleasure to attend and see folks who I haven't seen in a long time. I spoke to Orval at our softball game the following week and he was complaining about his soreness after all the dancing he did.... You still got the moves...

5/16/2005 Don Hewson
chewson@ebtech.net
Greatest appreciation to the organizing committee. I could have gone for three days. The re-union finally ended with Holly Huhn, Rick Beck, Dave Bleakney, and I walking toward our cars then re-grouping again, and again. After about 7 of these cycles, the cars moved off. Stay well my new old friends........

5/15/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
WOW!! The photos sure paint a great picture of just what it was like to be a part of such a great Reunion. Please keep the photos coming for all to enjoy. Orval

5/14/2005 Judi Reis
jreis@metrocast.net
What a thrill to see so many familiar faces at the reunion. Having been "hibernating in Maine" for the last 30 years I didn't know what to expect. We really had something special during our high school years and it's clearly still there. Still dancing and singing "Let's go Boys." A special thanks go the organizers.

5/13/2005 Mary Beth Lewis Rutter

Hi!It looks like I missed out on a great reunion.I had reservations, and everything, but the Dr's won't let me go anywhere--- and for a world traveler like me,I am going crazy here in the apartment.I wanted to join all of you,and show you all some new dance moves. But my heart condition and back could not allow it. I got the program in the mail today.Thank you for a fine job. If I am still here-I will be at the next one! Best.

5/11/2005 David Bleakney
d_bleakney@hotmail.com
Fantastic. It was fun seeing how you fine people all developed. (Sounds like I'm talking about film, or something.) It was probably close to two before I dozed off, all those faces flashing through my mind. Y'all take care now, hear? Hope to see y'uns well before the next social. All for now from the Garden State, David

5/10/2005 Deb Rossi (Rizzo)
jobdeb900@comcast.net
Liz, Mary Beth, Dave,Paula, Eileen, and Orval you did a fantastic job in reaching everyone to attend the reunion. Next reunion should be even better if you can imagine that! Those that couldn't attend this one, won't know what they missed until they come to the next. We're not getting older, we're getting wiser. Count me in to help on the next planning session. Thanks again for a great evening.

5/9/2005 Nancy Broce Mahoney

A wonderful time was had by all, I am sure. Many thanks to Dav, Mary Beth and all whole assisted in putting it all together. I believe it is a blessing from the Lord above that we are able to get together, and share fond memories of an exciting time in all our lives. We lived, and we learned. Thank the Good Lord that we can share even after all this time. Miss you all til' next time...

5/9/2005 Kathi Cropper
kathleen.cropper@hp.com
I missed everyone! Sounds like you all had a great time! and... a LOT of missing people showed up. I just moved close to Rehoboth at Baywood - great golf course! If any of you golfers (sounds like a few - Lorraine Maddox ! ) need a new challenge - it is a beautiful course. Mary Beth - any chance you could apply my payment to the next reunion? I came down with a cold in the last few days and decided I had better keep my germs to myself. Hope to see you next time! Kathi (Figun) Cropper

5/9/2005 Lorraine Maddox
lorraine.e.maddox-1@usa.dupont.com
I think the reunions just keep getting better and better! How can you beat 4-5 hours of hugging and kissing old friends? It was so much fun to be with everyone again and some of the memories that came up were priceless. (Thank goodness for those who still have the ability to remember some things!) Liz, Mary Beth, Paula, Eileen, Orval . . . you did a great job. It was a wonderful evening.

5/9/2005 Mary Beth Lewis Rutter
marybeth@cbchost.com
I really enjoyed seeing everyone at the reunion, and have decided it was worth stalking you all, with our many phone calls, to help get you there. Thanks again to each of you who helped to make it such a great evening!

It's Mark from Club Phred. Thank you for the privilege of letting us play at your reunion. Check our web site, www.clubphred.com, we usually post pictures in a few days. Hope to see you all again!

Had a wonderful time at the reunion. I intend to have the golf outing every year so take a look at the sight next year around this time if you are interested in playing.

5/6/2005 Debbie (Brown) Floyd

I can't wait to see everyone at the reunion! It's great to see that so many people are coming this year that have not been to a reunion before. MaryBeth, Liz, Orval, and other committee members: Thanks so much for all of your hard work. Thanks for inviting my Dad. He was one of our class sponsors and is looking forward to seeing everybody.

5/5/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net.
You are right Steve it could rain but I am hoping we will be able work around the rain drops. If it rains I will still come back to the club house at 1:00Pm just in case you decide to make it.

5/3/2005 Deb (Rossi) Rizzo
Joedeb900@comcast.net
I've been looking forward to attending the reunion and seeing everyone again, but after reading some of the messages from fellow classmates, I'm esthetic to see that many are planning to attend. See ya soon and Go Highlanders!

5/3/2005 Steve  Crowley
scrow4951@comcast.net
Orval F. I can schedule a stop at the clubhouse at 1:00PM on Saturday!! What if it rains??

4/28/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
Good News, our class advisor Mr. Brown called me tonight to let me know that he will be attending the reunion. I will be trying to contact other teachers to see if they would be able to attend as well.

4/26/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
The golf outing has room for four more players. Current roster of stars include: John Terranova, Bill Sweede, Gary Brittingham, Larry Geldof, Joe Embras, Greg Hindman, Orval Foraker, Duke Reamer. Others joining us are Mr. Sinopoli, Dan Foraker, Mike Foraker, and JR Griffith. Even if you aren't playing you can join us after we finish in the clubhouse around 1:00PM. It should be a lot of laughs.

4/25/2005 Sue Renshaw (McCabe)
slrenshaw@comcast.net
To the committe - you guys are doing an excellent job!!! This will be my first reunion since we graduated and can't wait to see everyone. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. See you soon!

4/24/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
We have the starting times for the golf outing. All that have indicated to me that they are attending should meet me at the Delcastle Golf Course by 8:00 AM on the 7th of May. We still have room for a couple more golfers so please email me if you are interested.

4/23/2005 Don  Hewson
chewson@ebtech.net
My cheque is in the mail, and I'm looking forward to catching up on all the stories. Much thanks for the addition of the class of 69 year book photos to this site. My memory did require the jolt.

4/16/2005 Elizabeth Haines
lizhaines@comcast.net
The committee has been working diligently to make this event special. Keep in mind, if you wait until the last minute to make a reservation, or plan to pay at the door, we'll be required to turn that money over to the next reunion committee rather than spend it on this one! Classmates are traveling from WA,FL,CA,ME,NH,TN,NJ,PA,MD,DE,and Canada.Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

4/13/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
Fellow Golfers we have one of the teachers willing to play a round with us. Mr. Sinopoli is going to join us. He will also contact Mr. Geiger and Mr. Durborow and see if they would play. In addition, he is going to make some calls and see if any of the teachers would want to come to the reunion. I gave him the web site address for the reunion so that he could give the information quickly to his colleagues. Orval

4/12/2005 John Terranova
jayterra@verizon.net
Orval, count me in for the golf and I am looking forward to the reunion. What is the mailing address for the check? Big print on the name tags gets my vote as well. I hope all is well with everyone.

4/12/2005 Steve  Crowley
scrow4951@comcast.net
Orval: I can remember the birthdays of all my siblings, but the nieces and nephews??? Not a chance!!

4/11/2005 Tom Watson
twatson@rteideas.com
Surely somebody must be mistaken; 35 years?....seems like yesterday. This will be my first reunion attendance and I am looking forward to it. I second Holly's suggestion, large print name tags! Thanks to the committee who pulled this together PS the checks in the mail!

4/10/2005 Mary Beth
marybeth@cbchost.com
Steve, Business casual is fine. A tie is not necessary. We want everyone to feel comfortable and enjoy the evening. I look forward to seeing everyone!

4/10/2005 Holly Huhn
hollyfh@localnet.com
Hi everyone. Thank you all who have done another great job of organizing the reunion. I have a favor to ask and hope it's not too difficult...but if you can make the nametags big enough for us to read without squinting...so we can at least act like we recognize people...squinting makes that very difficult! Looking forward to seeing everyone ...Holly

4/10/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
Steve, no worries about the golf just have fun with your family. Can you remember all of their names including nieces and nephews, spouses etc?? I come from a rather large family as well and some times I just draw a blank more and more as it grows and I get older. Orval

4/10/2005 Steve  Crowley
scrow4951@comcast.net
To Mary Beth: The invitation says "Casual" attire. In Florida, casual is shorts, a polo shirt, and flip-flops. Would it be safe to assume that a tie is not necessary??

4/10/2005 Steve  Crowley
scrow4951@comcast.net
Orval: You,re right about the fun part of the golf outing. But I will have a lot of family (15 siblings, not to mention relatives)to visit while I am there and precious little time in which to do it. It sounds like a great time is to be had on the links, but I will have to settle for the reunion to see everybody.

4/9/2005 Orval
oforaker@comcast.net
Gary Brittingham is going to join us for the golf on Saturday morning.

4/9/2005 Orval

That's great Joe. It looks like we will have several people participating.

4/9/2005 Joe Embras
jembras@comcast.net
Orval, Thanks for the reminder about the reunion. I was planning to go but just haven’t sent in my reservations. This will be done shortly. You can also count me in for golf on the 7th. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

4/8/2005 Orval Foraker
oforaker@comcast.net
Steve Crowley: Okay Steve but it would be more for the fun than the score. Maybe for those that were interested golf isn't the only thing some people could get together and do before the reunion? Orval

4/8/2005 Steve Crowley
scrow4951@comcast.net
Linda Potts: Are you the Linda Potts who used to live in the red brick house on Armstrong Avenue across from the Civics Club??? If so, HI!! I am one of the sixteen Crowleys from Brookland Avenue!!

4/8/2005 Steve  Crowley
scrow4951@comcast.net
Orval Foraker: I live in the land of some of the finest golf links in the world. I have played a few rounds, but I can only say that I do not do the game of golf any justice. My clubs will stay in FLORIDA!!

4/8/2005 Steve  Crowley
scrow4951@comcast.net
Loretta Harshbarger: I live just south of Sarasota, two blocks west off Exit 205 on I75.

4/6/2005 Orval Foraker
oforaker@comcast.net
LORRAINE: Okay not this time but maybe another. We can talk at the reunion and see if we find at least a foursome that would be willing to play a round at a later date. JANICE I am imagining right now what it would be like to see you swing a club. I would guess that both of you do pretty well. I am still trying to perfect a perfect swing(lol)but regardless of results I love the game. It's quite humbling..

4/6/2005 Lorraine Maddox
lorraine.e.maddox-1@usa.dupont.com
ORVAL: Wish I could play on the 7th. I take a lot of my vacation to play golf, but can't tomorrow, unfortunately. We'll have to schedule another Highlander golf outing. Janice might even join us. She will play at least one a year, just to keep her game sharp. STEVE CROWLEY: Florida does 'beckon.' Seems like just about everyone I know is down there by now. I'll look forward to seeing you at the reunion. It's going to be fun catching up with everyone.

4/5/2005 Orval Foraker
oforaker@comcast.net
I am looking for a couple of guys or gals that would want to play golf at Delcastle on the 7th. Greg is interested but it would be nice if we had a couple of foursomes. I can arrange the starting times just email me and let me know. Orval

4/5/2005 Orval Foraker
oforaker@comcast.net
Mary Beth, Liz, Paula and Eilene it was nice to talk with you about he reunion last night. You guys have done a super job organizing the 35th/36th. It looks like we are going to have a great turn out. I know of a few more people that have told me they were coming and I will give them a call to see if they are going to make it. Fellow Highlanders as we move into our second half century of life wouldn't be great to see each other once again and simply enjoy the fact that we are still here and still connected by those three intersting years in a new school with a new staff of teachers not much older than we were. I am going to contact some of the teachers as well and hope to get some of them to come to the reunion. See Ya all at the reunion

Liz, Thank you for your persistance in getting a hold of me. I am not sure if I will be attending. I understand there are several of you in Florida. I am in Holmes Beach (Bradenton). Would love to hear from anyone who is close by.

Liz Haines, Thanks for the phone call reminding me of the 35th. I'm undecided on attendance, but have a generous vacation entitlement these days and it might be fun to revisit. Not only the McKean group, but I spent summers at the Hercules Country Club. Being of Canadian parents, I returned to Canada in the late 1960s, and made my way in the "North" ever since, with the exception of a brief period at the Univ Illinois, Urbana. Does the website indicate anywhere the confirmed attendees to date? Nostalgically...........

To everyone: I have not run into anyone on the "CANNOT LOCATE" list. The closest I have come to meeting any classmates, is a new hire at the loccate newspaper where I work. But she is a 1978 graduate of Newark High.

In 1969, I could not wait to get as far away from Delaware as I could. SO now I live near Baltimore and have less excuses - but who is coming?
